Herb And Onion Wheat Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients
  •  Cooking spray
  • 1/4 c chilled butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 3/4 c fat-free milk
  • 1/4 tsp dried basil
  • 1 c sliced onion
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsps baking powder
  • 1/2 c whole wheat flour

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 425°.
  • Step #2 Heat a small skillet coated with cooking spray over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #3 Add onion; cook 6 mins or until tender, stirring frequently.
  • Step #4 Spoon onion into a mixer.
  • Step #5 Add milk; process until smooth.
  • Step #6 Cool.
  • Step #7 Lightly spoon flours into dry measuring c, & level with a knife.
  • Step #8 Combine flours & next 5 ingredients (flours through basil) In a large-ish bowl; cut in the butter with a pastry mixer or 2 knives until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
  • Step #9 Add onion mixture; stir just until moist.
  • Step #10 Turn dough out onto a heavily floured surface (dough will be sticky), & knead lightly 5 times with floured hands.
  • Step #11 Roll dough to a 1/2-inch thickness; cut into 10 biscuits with a 3-inch biscuit cutter.
  • Step #12 Place on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray.
  • Step #13 Bake at 425° for 12 mins or until golden.
