Ingredients
2 1/2 c all-purpose flour
2 tsps ground cinnamon
2/3 c cold water
3/4 c white sugar
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tbsp milk
1 c butter
1 c cornflakes cereal
1 tsp salt
1 egg yolk
10 apples - peeled, cored & sliced
1/2 c confectioners' sugar
Directions
Step #1 Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Step #2 In a large bowl, mix flour & salt.
Step #3 Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step #4 In a c, beat egg yolk, stir the cold water into the yolk.
Step #5 Gradually stir the egg mixture into the flour mixture until dough can be packed into a ball.
Step #6 On a clean dry surface, roll out 1/2 of the dough large enough to cover the bottom & sides of a 9x13 inch pan.
Step #7 Lay the dough in the pan.
Step #8 Place the cornflakes over the dough in the pan.
Step #9 Arrange apple slices over the top of the corn flake layer.
Step #10 Sprinkle top the sugar & cinnamon over the apples.
Step #11 Roll out the second half of the dough to cover the entire pan.
Step #12 Lay over the filling & pinch the edges of the two crusts together.
Step #13 Beat the egg white until foamy, & brush onto the top crust.
Step #14 Bake for 45 to 50 mins in the preheated oven, until golden brown.
Step #15 Drizzle with glaze while still warm.
Step #16 To make the glaze: In a small bowl, beat the confectioners' sugar with the milk & almond extract until smooth.
