Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 tsps milk
  • 2 (1/4 oz) envelopes active dry yeast
  • 2 tsps ground cinnamon
  • 1 c boiling water
  • 6 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/3 c sugar, divided
  • 2 tsps salt
  • 1 c shortening
  • 3/4 c butter or margarine, melted, divided
  • 1 c warm water (105º to 115º)
  • 1/2 c powdered sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine shortening, 1 c sugar & salt In a large-ish bowl; stir in the 1 c boiling water.
  • Step #2 Cool.
  • Step #3 Stir in eggs.
  • Step #4 Combine yeast & 1 c warm water in a 1-c glass measuring c; let this stand 5 mins.
  • Step #5 Stir into egg mixture.
  • Step #6 Gradually add flour, stirring until mixed.
  • Step #7 Cover up & chill at least 4 hrs.
  • Step #8 Roll one-third of dough into a 14- x 10-inch rectangle.
  • Step #9 Brush with 1/2 c melted butter; sprinkle with 1/3 c sugar & cinnamon.
  • Step #10 Roll up, starting at a long end; cut crosswise into 3/4-inch thick slices.
  • Step #11 Place in 2 lightly greased 9-inch round cakepans.
  • Step #12 Let rise & bake this at 375° for 10 to 12 mins or until golden.
  • Step #13 Stir together 1/2 c powdered sugar & milk; drizzle glaze over warm rolls.
