Lavender Scones Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 c milk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried culinary lavender (see Notes)
  • 1 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 tsps baking powder
  • 1/4 c sugar
  • 1/3 c (5 1/3 tbsp.) butter, chilled & cut into small pieces
  • 2 tbsps fresh lemon zest

Directions
  • Step #1 In a saucepan over med-heat/flame, bring milk & lavender to a simmer.
  • Step #2 Transfer to a small bowl & let steep 15 mins, then cover & chill for about 45 mins.
  • Step #3 Strain milk & set aside; discard lavender.
  • Step #4 Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Step #5 In a food processor/blender, whirl flour, baking soda, sugar, baking powder, & salt.
  • Step #6 Add butter & lemon zest & pulse to form a coarse meal.
  • Step #7 Add lavender-infused milk & pulse to form a shaggy dough.
  • Step #8 Turn dough onto a floured surface & knead 3 to 5 times.
  • Step #9 Form dough into a 6-in.
  • Step #10 circle.
  • Step #11 Cut into 6 wedges.
  • Step #12 Arrange wedges 2 in.
  • Step #13 apart on a baking sheet & bake this until golden, 20 to 25 mins.
