Caramel-pecan Oatmeal Bars Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 (11.5-oz.) package milk or semisweet chocolate morsels
  • 3/4 c butter, melted
  • 2 1/2 c uncooked quick-cooking oats
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 (18.25-oz.) package yellow cake mix
  • 25 caramels
  • 1 c sliced pecans

Directions
  • Step #1 Place pecans in a single layer in a 13- x 9-inch pan.
  • Step #2 Bake at 350° for 4 to 5 mins or until toasted, stirring every once in awhile.
  • Step #3 Remove nuts from pan.
  • Step #4 Line bottom & sides of pan with aluminum foil wrap, allowing 2 to 3 inches to extend over sides; lightly grease foil wrap.
  • Step #5 Stir together cake mix & oats In a large-ish bowl.
  • Step #6 Stir in butter with a fork until mixture is crumbly & dry ingredients are moistened.
  • Step #7 Press half of oat mixture evenly onto bottom of prepared pan.
  • Step #8 Sprinkle top chocolate morsels & toasted pecans evenly over oat mixture in pan.
  • Step #9 Sprinkle top with remaining oat mixture.
  • Step #10 Bake at 375° for 30 mins or until top is golden brown.
  • Step #11 Microwave caramels & 1 Tbsp.
  • Step #12 water in a microwave-safe bowl at HIGH 1 min or until caramels are melted.
  • Step #13 Drizzle evenly over warm bars in pan.
  • Step #14 Let cool on a wire rack 1 hr or until completely cool.
  • Step #15 Lift baked bars from pan, using foil wrap sides as handles.
  • Step #16 Place on a cutting board, & cut into 24 bars.
