Elsie's Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c buttermilk
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c butter or margarine
  • 1/3 c sour cream
  • 2 tbsps baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp sugar
  • 3 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c milk
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine first 3 ingredients; cut in butter with a pastry mixer until mixture is crumbly.
  • Step #2 Combine milk & next 4 ingredients; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
  • Step #3 Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead 3 or 4 times.
  • Step #4 Roll to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 1 1/2-inch round cutter, & place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  • Step #5 Bake at 450° for 7 to 9 mins.
  • Step #6 Note: Rolled dough may be cut with a 2 1/2-inch round cutter; bake this at 450ºfor 10 to 12 mins Yeild : 1 dozen.
