Chile-cheese Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 tbsps all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsps butter or margarine
  • 2 c milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 c (4 oz.) shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (4.5-oz.) can sliced green chiles
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Directions
  • Step #1 Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over medium-low heat; add flour, whisking until smooth.
  • Step #2 Cook, whisking constantly, 1 min.
  • Step #3 Increase heat to medium, & slowly add milk; cook, whisking constantly, until slightly thickened.
  • Step #4 Remove from heat; add cheese & remaining ingredients, stirring until cheese melts.
  • Step #5 Keep warm.
