Step #1 Preheat oven to 425°F.
Step #2 n a large bowl, 1 tsp salt, egg, breadcrumbs, cumin, garlic, 1/2 c chili sauce, mix beef, scallions, chili powder, & 1/2 tsp pepper.
Step #3 Using your hands, mix just until mixd.
Step #4 Divide beef into 4 equal portions; form each portion into a patty, about 1.
Step #5 5 inches thick.
Step #6 At this point, you may choose to cover each patty with plastic wrap & put in the fridge overnight; if not, go onto the next step.
Step #7 Transfer patties to rimmed baking sheet.
Step #8 Bake until brownmed, about 15 min.
Step #9 Brush tops & sides of patties with remaining chili sauce.
Step #10 Return to oven , cook 5-10 mins more.
Step #11 Serve with jalapeno slices & warm tortillas, if desired.
