Step #2 Sift flour, salt & baking powder into a bowl.
Step #3 Add brown sugar & butter & cut into flour with pastry mixer or 2 knives.
Step #4 Add milk slowly, tossing with fork to moisten evenly.
Step #5 Add a few drops more milk if mix seems dry.
Step #6 It should not stick to the bowl or your hands.
Step #7 Divide dough into 4 pieces & press each into a ball & flatten slightly.
Step #8 Place each cake of dough between 2 pieces of wax paper & roll with rolling pin to about 3/16 inch thickness.
Step #9 Peel off top piece of wax paper & flip dough over onto ungreased cookie or pizza sheet.
Step #10 Cut into squares or any shape you like.
Step #11 A pizza cutter is good for this.
Step #12 Prick all over with a fork, then bake this at 375 degrees until lightly browned, about 8-10 mins Watch closely because crackers brown quickly.
Step #13 If the crackers on the outside brown before the center, remove the outer crackers & continue to bake the rest.
Step #14 VARIATIONS: For variety, you can add herbs to the dough, or sprinkle crackers with poppy, caraway or sesame seeds before baking.
