French Onion Soup I I Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce .
  • 2 (14 1/2 oz) cans beef consomme .
  • 6 slices French bread (toasted) .
  • 1 beef bouillon cube .
  • 6 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded (1 1/4 c) .
  • 8 tbsps butter .
  • 4 c onions, thinly sliced .
  • 1 dash pepper

Directions
  • Step #1 Sauté onion in butter in 5 quart Dutch oven over low heat/flame for 15 mins or until onions are golden brown & tender.
  • Step #2 Stir in broth, bouillon cube, pepper & Worcestershire sauce.
  • Step #3 Bring to a boil.
  • Step #4 Cover up & reduce heat & let simmer 25 mins.
  • Step #5 Ladle soup into four to six oven proof bowls, top this with a slice of toasted bread.
  • Step #6 Sprinkle top 2 tbsps of cheese mix on top of bread.
  • Step #7 Place bowls on foil wrap lined cookie sheet.
  • Step #8 Broil 3-5 inches from the heat 1-3 mins until cheese is bubbly.
  • Step #9 NOTE: You can add 12 oz more of consomme or beef broth if you like.
