Six-minute Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c cold water or brewed coffee .
  • 2 tbsps vinegar .
  • 1 1/2 c unbleached white flour .
  • 1 tsp baking soda .
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract .
  • 2 tsps vanilla extract .
  • 1 c sugar .
  • 1/3 c cocoa powder .
  • Cake .
  • 1/2 c vegetable oil .
  • 3/4 c hot water or milk .
  • Glaze .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 1/2 lb bittersweet chocolate

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • Step #2 Sift the flour, baking soda, cocoa, salt & sugar into an ungreased 8 inch square or 9 inch round baking tin.
  • Step #3 In a 2 c measuring c, measure & mix the oil, water or coffee & vanilla.
  • Step #4 Pour the liquid ingredients into the baking tin & mix the batter with a fork or small whisk.
  • Step #5 When the batter is smooth, add the vinegar & stir quickly.
  • Step #6 Pale swirls will occur where the vinegar & baking soda react.
  • Step #7 Stir just until the vinegar is even distributed throughout the batter.
  • Step #8 Bake for 25-30 mins.
  • Step #9 Set aside the cake to cool.
  • Step #10 If you are making the glaze, reset the oven to 300F deg F.
  • Step #11 Melt the chocolate in small ovenproof bowl or heavy skillet in the oven for about 15 mins.
  • Step #12 Stir the hot liquid & vanilla into the chocolate until smooth.
  • Step #13 Spoon the glaze oever the cooled cake.
  • Step #14 Refrigerate the glazed cake for a minimum of 30 mins before serving.
