Southern Fried Peach Pies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 tsps baking powder .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • For dough .
  • 1/4 c Crisco .
  • 6 oz dried peaches .
  • water .
  • 2 c all-purpose flour .
  • oil (for frying) .
  • For filling .
  • milk .
  • 1 1/2 c sugar .
  • butter

Directions
  • Step #1 Place flour, baking powder & salt in a bowl.
  • Step #2 Cut in crisco with pastry cutter or fork.
  • Step #3 Add enough milk to make dough, do not mix too much.
  • Step #4 Let biscuit dough sit for 1 hr.
  • Step #5 Meanwhile take dried peaches & put in sauce pan with enough water to cover & cook this until soft.
  • Step #6 Add 1 1/2 c of sugar & cook 15 minuts more.
  • Step #7 Remove from stove & mash with potato masher; set aside.
  • Step #8 Preheat electric skillet to 300F degrees.
  • Step #9 Take biscuit dough & pull enough off for one pie, roll it out thin on floured board.
  • Step #10 Take a saucer, place on rolled out dough & trim around it with a sharp knife.
  • Step #11 Place two big spoons of peaches on one side of dough & lap the other side over in half moon shape.
  • Step #12 Seal the edges with a fork.
  • Step #13 Fry pies in skillet until brown, then turn & brown other side.
  • Step #14 Drain on paper towels.
  • Step #15 These pies can be eaten warm or stored in a container & eaten the next day room temperature they are awesome either way.
