Step #1 Toss bread & raisins in an ungreased 1 1/2 quart baking dish.
Step #2 In a saucepan, sugar, mix milk, butter & salt; cook & stir until butter melts.
Step #3 Remove from heat.
Step #4 Whisk eggs & vanilla in a small bowl; slowly stir in the a small amount of the hot mixture.
Step #5 Return all to the pan & mix well.
Step #6 Pour over bread & raisins.
Step #7 Set the dish In a large-ishr baking pan; add 1 inch of hot water & bake uncovered for 50-60 mins or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
Step #8 For sauce, mix the sugar & cornstarch in saucepan.
Step #9 Stir in water until smooth; bring to a boil over med-heat/flame.
Step #10 Boil for 1-2 mins, stirring constantly.
Step #11 Remove from the heat; stir in the lemon juice, zest & butter until butter melts.
Step #12 Serve over warm or cold pudding.
Step #13 Refrigerate leftovers.
