Cantonese Pork Chops Recipe

Ingredients
  • seasoning salt .
  • 1/4 c cold water .
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch .
  • 2 tbsps honey or brown sugar .
  • 1/2 c milk .
  • 1 (14 oz) can tomatoes (cut into quarters with juice) .
  • oil .
  • 10 pork chops (boneless prefered) .
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic .
  • SAUCE .
  • garlic powder .
  • 3 tbsps ketchup (or to taste) .
  • 1 tbsp HP steak sauce (or to taste) .
  • 1 large onion, sliced .
  • 3/4 c fine dry breadcrumbs .
  • pepper .
  • 1 large green bell pepper, coarsley sliced .
  • 3/4 c flour .
  • oil (for frying) .
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional & to taste)

Directions
  • Step #1 Grease a baking dish.
  • Step #2 In a shallow dish, mix breadcrumbs, flour & seasoning salt (or regular salt) pepper & garlic powder.
  • Step #3 Dip the pork chops in milk, then into breadcrumb mixture.
  • Step #4 Brown in hot oil on both sides; drain fat.
  • Step #5 Place the pork chops in prepared baking dish.
  • Step #6 To make the sauce: In the same frypan saute onion & garlic for about 5-6 mins.
  • Step #7 Add in tomatoes with juice, & remaining ingredients (with green pepper) bring to a boil, & let simmer about 15 mins.
  • Step #8 Mix cornstarch with cold water.
  • Step #9 Add into tomato mixture, & cook, stirring until thickened (about 5 mins).
  • Step #10 Pour the sauce over the pork chops in the baking dish; toss lightly to coat the chops.
  • Step #11 Cover up & bake in a 325F degree oven for about 35-40 mins, or until pork chops are tender.
