2 large golden delicious apples, peeled, cored, cut in to thin slices (3 c) .
2 tbsps flour .
1/4 tsp salt .
1 c flour .
1 tsp cinnamon .
Dumplings .
2 large ripe anjou pears, peeled, cored, & cut into thin slices (3 c) .
2 tsps baking powder .
1 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces .
1/3 c butter, melted .
2 tbsps apple juice or water .
1/4 c sugar or Splenda sugar substitute .
1/2 c sugar or Splenda sugar substitute
Directions
Step #1 For filling,mix sugar,flour & cinnamon In a large-ish bowl; add fruit & juice or water,mix well.
Step #2 Transfer to a 1 1/2-quart shallow casserole dish or a 11 x 7-inch baking dish; top this with butter pieces.
Step #3 For dumplings, mix flour,baking powder & salt in a medium bowl; ADD cheese; mix well; add milk & butter; mix until dry ingredients are moistened, sugar, drop dough into 8 or 9 mounds over fruit mixture.
Step #4 Bake in a preheated 400F degree oven for 30 to 35 mins or until filling is bubbly & dumplings are golden brown; transfer to a cooling rack; let this stand at least 20 mins before serving, serve warm, enjoy.
