Wine-braised Carrots Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2-3/4 c dry white wine .
  • 1 tbsp sugar or brown sugar .
  • 2 tbsps butter or margarine .
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon .
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves .
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg .
  • 6 medium carrots, peeled & sliced

Directions
  • Step #1 Place the carrots & butter or margarin into a 2-quart medium-sized saucepan.
  • Step #2 Heat on medium-high heat for 2--3 mins, stirring once or twice.
  • Step #3 Turn the heat down to medium-low & add the wine.
  • Step #4 Let cook, covered, for about 7 to 10 mins, until the larger carrot pieces are fork tender.
  • Step #5 Now add the sugar & spices.
  • Step #6 Stir to mix well.
  • Step #7 Cook on low heat for another 2--3 mins.
  • Step #8 Serve hot with meat, poultry, or pork.
  • Step #9 These will go with nearly anything.
