Bonnach (celtic Bread) From Canada Recipe

Ingredients

4 c flour .
8 tsps baking powder .
1/2 c currants .
1 1/2 c milk .
1/2 c white sugar .
2 tsps salt .
1/2 c shortening

Directions

Step #1 Combine flour, baking powder, salt & sugar.
Step #2 Work in shortening as for pastry.
Step #3 Add currants.
Step #4 Moisten with milk, making a soft dough.
Step #5 Knead 10 seconds.
Step #6 Pat out on a greased cookie sheet, to a thickness of a 1/2 inch.
Step #7 Preheat oven to 375°F & bake for 25 mins.
Step #8 Serve warm with butter.
