Christmas Pastels Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 c shortening
  • 2 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 (3 oz) package fruit flavored gelatin mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c white sugar
  • 1/3 c white sugar for decoration

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 400F degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Step #2 In a medium bowl, cream the shortening, sugar, & flavored gelatin.
  • Step #3 Stir in the eggs & vanilla.
  • Step #4 Sift together the flour, baking powder, & salt; stir in theto the creamed mixture.
  • Step #5 Roll cookies into 1 inch balls place them on an unprepared cookie sheet, & flatten with a cookie stamp dipped in sugar.
  • Step #6 If you don 't have a cookie stamp, flatten cookies with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
  • Step #7 Bake for 6 to 8 mins , until set but not brown.
