Asian Style Grilled Scallops Wrapped In Bacon Recipe

Ingredients
  • 12 large sea scallops, halved .
  • 12 slices bacon (thin slice) .
  • 1 tsp sesame oil .
  • 24 wooden toothpicks, soaked in water for 1 hr .
  • 3 tbsps soy sauce .
  • 1 pinch sugar .
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated .
  • 1 tbsp mirin (Chinese rice wine) .
  • 1 tsp garlic, finely sliced .
  • 1/4 tsp chili-garlic sauce (Hot Asian)

Directions
  • Step #1 In a bowl, Mirin, garlic, chili sauce, mix the soy sauce, ginger, sugar & oil.
  • Step #2 Add scallops & toss well.
  • Step #3 Set aside to marinate for 1/2 hr under refrigeration.
  • Step #4 Cook the bacon until lightly browned but only about half cooked.
  • Step #5 It must still be flexible enough to wrap around the scallops.
  • Step #6 Cut each piece in half.
  • Step #7 Preheat your grill to a medium heat.
  • Step #8 Remove the scallops from the marinade & pat dry.
  • Step #9 Wrap each scallop in a piece of bacon & secure it with a toothpick.
  • Step #10 Place the wrapped scallops on the grill & cook for about 6 mins until bacon is crispy & the scallops are firm.
  • Step #11 Watch for flare ups & turn them often.
  • Step #12 Serve as soon as possible.
