Cream Cheese Filled Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • TOPPING:
  • 1 1/2 c confectioners' sugar
  • 1 drop yellow food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 c all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tbsps butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsps all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 c butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 c sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 (3 oz) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • FILLING:
  • 1/3 c shortening

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, shortening & sugar.
  • Step #2 Beat in egg & vanilla.
  • Step #3 Combine flour, baking powder & salt; slowly add to the creamed mixture.
  • Step #4 Shape into two 12-in.
  • Step #5 rolls; wrap each in plastic wrap.
  • Step #6 Refrigerate for 4 hrs or overnight.
  • Step #7 Unwrap & cut into 1-in.
  • Step #8 slices.
  • Step #9 Place 1 in.
  • Step #10 apart on greased baking sheet.
  • Step #11 Bake at 375 degrees F for 10-12 mins or until lightly browned.
  • Step #12 Immediately make an indentation in the center of each cookie using the end of a wooden spoon handle.
  • Step #13 Remove to wire racks to cool.
  • Step #14 Combine filling ingredients in a mixing bowl; mix well.
  • Step #15 Place 2 tspfuls in the center of each cookie.
  • Step #16 Let stand until set.
  • Step #17 In a small saucepan over low heat/flame, melt chocolate chips & butter; stir until smooth.
  • Step #18 Drizzle over cookies.
  • Step #19 Store in the refrigerator.
