1 c nuts, sliced (walnuts, pecans, or macadamia nuts) (optional) .
1 1/4 c bread flour
Directions
Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step #2 Melt butter (low heat) in medium saucepan.
Step #3 Add cocoa powder ; stir until well mixed.
Step #4 Remove from heat.
Step #5 Add vanilla & both sugars.
Step #6 Add eggs to mixture, one at a time.
Step #7 (Mix each one in before adding the next.
Step #8 ).
Step #9 In a medium bowl mix the flour, baking powder, & salt.
Step #10 Add the nuts (if using them) & chips to the flour; give it a little stir this to mix then add to the butter mixture.
Step #11 Pour mixture into a 10x14 inch baking pan making sure it is spread out evenly.
Step #12 You can grease & flour the pan but I use parchment paper to ease the cleanup.
Step #13 [it will work in a 9x13 pan but will be thicker -- baking time will probably be affected.
Step #14 ].
Step #15 Bake for about 30 mins at 350 degrees F.
Step #16 Slice when brownies have cooled; then sprinkle on a bit of confectioner’s sugar to give it a nice finish -- Please note that this adds a lot of sweetness to the brownies.
Step #17 Option: I sometimes add 1/2 c dried cherries & 1/2 c dried cranberries.
Step #18 I sprinkle a little flour on them before chopping them up then add them to them to the flour mix in place of the nuts.
