Indonesian Potato Croquettes- (kroket Kentang) Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps cornstarch, mixed with .
  • 1 sliced carrot .
  • 100 ml water .
  • 1 stalk sliced celery .
  • 1 tbsp oil .
  • 1 tbsp sweet soy sauce .
  • 1/4 tsp pepper (to taste) .
  • 1/2 lb cooked ground beef, drained .
  • 1 lb peeled potatoes, cooked & mashed .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg .
  • 1/2 tsp sugar .
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1 tsp water .
  • 1 tsp water .
  • 2 sliced garlic cloves .
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg .
  • 5 shallots .
  • 1 c breadcrumbs .
  • 2 tbsps powdered milk

Directions
  • Step #1 Fillng: Stir-fry garlic & shallots with a little butter or margarine.
  • Step #2 Stir in meat, carrot & celery.
  • Step #3 Then add water & the rest of the spices.
  • Step #4 Mix in cornstarch & stir until mixture thickens.
  • Step #5 Add a little bit of the above mixture to the center of 1-2 tbsps of mashed potato.
  • Step #6 Cover up the mixture & shape into a round ball.
  • Step #7 Roll the finished ball into lightly whisked egg mixture & then roll onto the bread crumbs.
  • Step #8 Deep fry in hot oil until lightly browned.
  • Step #9 This recipe can be easily doubled.
