Chocolate Pound Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c butter
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 c milk
  • 3 c sugar
  • 3 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 c solid vegetable shortening
  • 1/4 c baking cocoa
  • 6 eggs

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large mixing bowl, cream butter & shortening with sugar until fluffy.
  • Step #2 Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Step #3 Combine flour, baking powder & cocoa.
  • Step #4 Add flour mixture alternately with mixd milk & vanilla to the butter mixture.
  • Step #5 Mix well.
  • Step #6 Pour into greased tube pan without removable bottom.
  • Step #7 Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hr & 20 mins or until cake tests done.
  • Step #8 Allow to cool 15 mins before removing cake from pan.
  • Step #9 Cool on wire rack.
  • Step #10 Sprinkle top with confectioners' sugar, if desired.
