Chocolate Anise Cookies Biscotti Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c sugar .
  • 2 large eggs .
  • 1 tsp ground aniseed .
  • 1 1/2 tsps baking powder .
  • 2 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 1/2 c unsalted butter, room temperature .
  • 1 c semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step #2 Line a heavy large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Step #3 Whisk the flour, baking powder, & salt in a medium bowl to mix.
  • Step #4 Using an electric mixer, beat the sugar & butter In a large-ish bowl to mix.
  • Step #5 Beat in the eggs 1 at a time.
  • Step #6 Add the flour mixture & beat just until mixed.
  • Step #7 Add the ground anise seed & mix well.
  • Step #8 Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Step #9 Form the dough into a 16-inch-long, 3-inch-wide log.
  • Step #10 Transfer the log to the prepared baking sheet.
  • Step #11 (I spooned the dough directly on the parchment lined cookie sheet in a log shape & carefully shaped it with my fingers).
  • Step #12 Bake until light golden, about 30 mins.
  • Step #13 Cool 30 mins.
  • Step #14 Place the log on the cutting board.
  • Step #15 Using a serrated knife, cut the log on a diagonal into 1/2- to 3/4-inch-thick slices.
  • Step #16 Arrange the cookies cut side down on the baking sheet.
  • Step #17 Bake the cookies until pale golden, about 15 mins.
  • Step #18 Transfer the cookies to a rack & cool completely.
