Orange Ginger Scones Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps baking powder .
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda .
  • 1 1/2 tsps orange peel, grated .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 4 tbsps sugar, divided .
  • 2 tsps ground ginger .
  • 1/2 c butter, cold .
  • 3/4 c sour cream .
  • 2 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1 egg

Directions
  • Step #1 In a bowl, mix the flour, ginger, 2 TBLS sugar, baking powder, salt & baking soda.
  • Step #2 Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Step #3 Combine the egg, sour cream, & orange peel; add to crumb mixture & stir until a soft dough forms.
  • Step #4 Turn onto a floured surface; knead 5-6 times.
  • Step #5 Divide dough in half.
  • Step #6 Pat each portion into a 7" circle; cut each into 6 wedges.
  • Step #7 Seperate wedges & place 1" apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Step #8 Sprinkle top with remaining sugar.
  • Step #9 Bake at 400F degrees for 10-12 mins or until lightly browned.
