Cheese Straws Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 tsps worcestershire sauce .
  • 4 oz butter .
  • 1 1/2 c flour .
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper .
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg .
  • 8 oz cracker barrel extra-sharp cheddar cheese, shredded .
  • 7 drops Tabasco sauce .
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350.
  • Step #2 Using pastry blade, mix cheese & butter together in food processor/blender.
  • Step #3 Add cayenne, nutmeg, worcestershire, salt, & Tabasco & mix until mixed.
  • Step #4 Add flour 1/4 c at a time, processing so that it is absorbed into the dough.
  • Step #5 Scraping down the sides of the bowl frequently, process until all flour is absorbed & dough holds together.
  • Step #6 Mold dough into rectangular loaf shape.
  • Step #7 wrap in wax paper & put in the fridge until firm.
  • Step #8 Roll out dough to a thickness of 1/2 inch, & cut dough into strips 1/2" by 1/2" wide & 4" long.
  • Step #9 Twist & place on cookie sheets.
  • Step #10 Bake at 350 for about 9 mins, keeping a close eye on them so they don't get too brown.
  • Step #11 Cool on wire rack.
  • Step #12 They keep well in the freezer.
