Stuffed Sourdough Sandwiches Recipe

Ingredients
  • 8 sourdough rolls .
  • 1/4 tsp garlic salt .
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef .
  • 2 tbsps chili powder .
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce .
  • 1/2 c sliced fresh mushrooms .
  • 2 tbsps sliced ripe olives .
  • 1 (4 oz) can sliced green chilies .
  • 1/2 c sliced onions .
  • 1 c shredded cheddar cheese

Directions
  • Step #1 n a large skillet, cook beef & onion over med-heat/flame until meat is no longer pink; drain.
  • Step #2 Add the tomato sauce, mushrooms, chilies, chili powder, olives & garlic salt.
  • Step #3 Bring to a boil.
  • Step #4 Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10 mins or until heated through.
  • Step #5 Add cheese; cook & stir until melted.
  • Step #6 Cut 1/4 inches off the top of each roll; set aside.
  • Step #7 Carefully hollow out bottom of roll, leaving a 1/4-in.
  • Step #8 shell (discard removed bread or save for another use).
  • Step #9 Fill each roll with about 1/2 c meat mixture.
  • Step #10 Replace bread tops.
  • Step #11 Individually wrap four sandwiches tightly in foil wrap; freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Step #12 Place remaining sandwiches on a baking sheet.
  • Step #13 Bake at 350° for 10-15 mins or until heated through.
  • Step #14 To use frozen sandwiches: Thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
  • Step #15 Place foil wrap-wrapped sandwiches on baking sheets.
  • Step #16 Bake at 350° for 20-25 mins or until heated through.
