Emily's Iced Shortbread Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c unsalted butter (2 sticks) .
  • 1/4 c butter (1/2 stick) .
  • 5/8 c granulated sugar .
  • Icing .
  • food coloring .
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract .
  • 3/4 c powdered sugar .
  • 2 c all-purpose flour

Directions
  • Step #1 Cream the butter & sugar until smooth.
  • Step #2 Add flour & mix to mix well.
  • Step #3 Cover up & chill until firm enough to roll out.
  • Step #4 Roll out on a lightly floured cutting board & cut out using lightly floured cookie cutters.
  • Step #5 Bake at 350°F on baking sheets until pale golden in color, about 10 mins.
  • Step #6 Remove to racks to cool completely.
  • Step #7 Mix icing together & tint as desired & chill slightly.
  • Step #8 When cookies are cooled, ice cookies as desired.
