Creamed Carrot Strips Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c sliced celery
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • 1/4 c sliced onion
  • 2/3 c milk
  • 1 (4.5 oz) can mushrooms, drained
  • 2 tbsps all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp dried tarragon
  • 1 dash black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 lb carrots, peeled & julienned
  • 1 cube chicken bouillon
  • 3/4 c water

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat water in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
  • Step #2 Dissolve bouillon in hot water & add carrots; cover & boil carefully for 10 mins.
  • Step #3 Meanwhile, melt butter in a large skillet over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #4 Saute celery, mushrooms & onion until tender.
  • Step #5 Stir in flour, salt, tarragon & pepper.
  • Step #6 Gradually stir in the milk & carrots with the broth they were boiled in.
  • Step #7 Cook over med-heat/flame, stirring every once in awhile, until mixture comes to a boil & thickens.
