Step #1 In a big mixing bowl, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, stir the flours, & cinnamon together.
Step #2 Using a pastry mixer, cut in shortening until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
Step #3 In another bowl, mix the egg & juice; stir in theto flour mixture.
Step #4 Stir in cranberries & almonds.
Step #5 Drop dough by rounded tsps 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Step #6 Bake at 350° for 12-14 mins or until bottoms are lightly browned.
Step #7 Transfer cookies to a wire rack & let cool.
Step #8 Orange Frosting: in a small bowl, stir the powdered sugar, orange peel, & enough orange juice to make drizzling consistency.
Step #9 Drizzle frosting over cookies; let frosting dry.
Step #10 To store: place this in layers separated by waxed paper in an airtight container; cover; store at about room temp up to 3 days or freeze undrizzled cookies up to 3 months; thaw cookies, then drizzle.
