  • For Country Gravy .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 1/4 tsp pepper .
  • 2 c whole milk .
  • 16 oz cube steaks .
  • 1/4 c flour .
  • 1/2 tbsp salt

Directions
  • Step #1 The gravy takes the longest, milk, so start the gravy by combining the chicken broth, salt & pepper in a medium sauce pan over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #2 As it is heating (but before boiling) be very careful & remove about a 1/2 to 1 c of the hot liquid.
  • Step #3 Add flour to the liquid & whisk to mix.
  • Step #4 Pour the hot liquid/flour mixture back into the sauce pan & whisk til smooth.
  • Step #5 Bring to a boil & cook for 10-15 mins until thick.
  • Step #6 Stir frequently.
  • Step #7 While the gravy is going, heat oil in a deep fryer or large frying pan to 350°F Make sure to have enough oil to cover the steaks while frying.
  • Step #8 Sift flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, & seasoning salt together into a large shallow bowl.
  • Step #9 Pour water into another shallow bowl.
  • Step #10 Dredge each steak, first in the water, one at a time, then in the flour.
  • Step #11 Repeat this one more time so that each steak has been coated twice.
  • Step #12 When all steaks have been coated & the oil is hot, one at a time, drop the steaks, into oil.
  • Step #13 If needed, work in batches.
  • Step #14 (I usually do.
  • Step #15 ).
  • Step #16 Fry for 8-10 mins, until golden brown.
  • Step #17 Place on wire rack with paper towels underneath to drain.
  • Step #18 (This keeps 'em crispy).
  • Step #19 Serve the steaks hot with gravy poured over.
