Italian Beef Melt On Toasted Garlic Buns Recipe

Ingredients
  • salt .
  • softened butter .
  • 8 slices mozzarella cheese (can use more, or use provolone) .
  • garlic powder (or omit the salt & use garlic salt) .
  • 1 (10 oz) can sliced mushrooms, well drained .
  • 1 lb cooked beef (cut into strips) .
  • 4 hoagie rolls (sliced in half) .
  • 2 c prepared pasta sauce (use your favorite or see Kittencal's Pasta Sauce With Parmesan Meatballs)

Directions
  • Step #1 In a saucepan heat pasta sauce cook stirring every once in awhile until heated.
  • Step #2 Add in beef & continue cooking over medium-low until heated through (about 5 mins) remove this from heat.
  • Step #3 Spread softened butter on both sides of each bun then sprinkle with salt then a bit of garlic powder.
  • Step #4 Place the buns on a baking sheet cut-side up.
  • Step #5 Turn the oven to broiler heat.
  • Step #6 Broil buns 4-6 inches from heat until toasted (watch closely they brown fast!).
  • Step #7 Remove buns from oven leaving the broiler heat on.
  • Step #8 Divide the sauce/beef mixture between the buns, then sprinkle with sliced mushrooms.
  • Step #9 Top with 2 slices (or more) of mozzarella cheese.
  • Step #10 Return to the oven & broil 4-6 inches from heat source until the cheese has melted.
