Sticky Toffee Scones Recipe

Ingredients
  • 5 g bicarbonate of soda .
  • 150 ml milk .
  • 55 g caster sugar .
  • 100 g pitted dates .
  • 100 ml water .
  • 1 tsp baking powder .
  • 225 g self raising flour .
  • 1 large egg .
  • 55 g butter

Directions
  • Step #1 Sift the flour, sugar & baking powder together in a bowl.
  • Step #2 rub in the butter & then mix in th egg.
  • Step #3 pour in the milk & mix to form a dough.
  • Step #4 place the dates, bicarb of soda & water in a saucepan.
  • Step #5 over a low heat, cook carefully until the dates soften & break down.
  • Step #6 Cool.
  • Step #7 Preheat the oven to 200C 400°F.
  • Step #8 fold the gooey dates into the scone dough.
  • Step #9 roll the dough out onto a floured board to 1 inch thickness & cut with round cutter.
  • Step #10 place round onto baking sheet & place this in oven.
  • Step #11 bake for 10 mins.
