- 150 ml milk .
- 55 g caster sugar .
- 100 g pitted dates .
- 100 ml water .
- 1 tsp baking powder .
- 225 g self raising flour .
- 1 large egg .
- 55 g butter
Directions
- Step #1 Sift the flour, sugar & baking powder together in a bowl.
- Step #2 rub in the butter & then mix in th egg.
- Step #3 pour in the milk & mix to form a dough.
- Step #4 place the dates, bicarb of soda & water in a saucepan.
- Step #5 over a low heat, cook carefully until the dates soften & break down.
- Step #6 Cool.
- Step #7 Preheat the oven to 200C 400°F.
- Step #8 fold the gooey dates into the scone dough.
- Step #9 roll the dough out onto a floured board to 1 inch thickness & cut with round cutter.
- Step #10 place round onto baking sheet & place this in oven.
- Step #11 bake for 10 mins.
