French Toast Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 large eggs .
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon, ground .
  • maple syrup, to serve (optional) .
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract .
  • 8 slices white bread .
  • 1/4 c 2% low-fat milk .
  • confectioners' sugar, to serve .
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg, ground

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat the oven to 200°F Preaheat a griddle or large skillet over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #2 Whisk the eggs in a shallow bowl until foamy.
  • Step #3 Whisk in the milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, & vanilla extract until well mixed.
  • Step #4 Grease the griddle or skillet.
  • Step #5 Dip the bread slices in the batter for a few seconds on each side & place on the griddle.
  • Step #6 Cook, flipping once with a spatula, untili golden brown on each side, about 4 mins total.
  • Step #7 Don't let the griddle smoke; adjust the heat as needed.
  • Step #8 As the slices cook, place on an ovenproof plate to keep warm in the oven.
  • Step #9 Sprinkle top the French toast lightly with the confectioners' sugar & serve this with syrup at the table if desired.
