Step #2 Place in boiling water & cook this until done (I usually do this for about 15-20 mins.
Step #3 They need to be a bit crunchy, not too hard-not too soft) drain water when done; set aside.
Step #4 Fry bacon in separate pot (the one you will use to make the soup).
Step #5 Remove the bacon from the pan & set it aside.
Step #6 Leave the grease in the pan.
Step #7 Caramelize the onions in the bacon grease.
Step #8 Allow to cool for 5 mins or so; do not empty the grease!
Add the cheese soups, cream of potato & French onion soups, milk & water to the onion/grease mixture.
Step #9 Crumble the bacon & divide it into 2 bowls.
Step #10 Heat up the soup mixture in the bacon grease/onion pan & when hot, add the potatoes & one bowl of the bacon crumbles.
Step #11 Set on medium heat & allow to cook for 30 mins to 1 hr.
Step #12 Add half of the cheese while stirring constantly for about 2 mins.
Step #13 Allow soup to sit for about 5 mins & serve this with remaining bacon crumbles & cheese on top.
Step #14 A really nice romaine salad w/purple onions, roma tomatoes & cheddar/garlic croutons *and your fave dressing* make this the perfect meal.
