Stuffed French Loaf Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 loaf French bread .
  • 3/4 c extra-sharp cheddar cheese, grated .
  • 1 garlic clove, Finely Minced .
  • 1/3 c sliced onions .
  • 1/4 c olive oil .
  • 1/2 c parmesan cheese, grated .
  • Vegetarian Options in place of sausage .
  • 2 veggie burgers, crumbled (I use Garden Burgers) (optional) .
  • 1 egg .
  • 8 oz spicy bulk sausage .
  • 1 tsp black pepper, freshly ground .
  • 1 tbsp pecans, sliced (optional) .
  • 2 tbsps sliced fresh parsley leaves .
  • 4 oz mushroom pieces (optional) .
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard, divided

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step #2 Slice the bread in half lengthwise & slightly hollow out each half, leaving a 1/2-inch thick layer of bread.
  • Step #3 Place crumbs in container of mixer or food processor/blender & process 15 to 20 seconds or until fine.
  • Step #4 Cook sausage, onion, & garlic in skillet over med-heat/flame until meat is browned; drain.
  • Step #5 In a large bowl, mix bread crumbs, egg, meat mixture, 1 tsp mustard, & parsley; set aside.
  • Step #6 Using a mixer or food processor/blender, & pepper until mixture forms a paste, olive oil, 2 tsps mustard, process the cheeses, about 1 min.
  • Step #7 Spread cheese mixture evenly over the inside of each bread half.
  • Step #8 Spoon meat mixture into the cavity of each bread half.
  • Step #9 Place bread halves together.
  • Step #10 Wrap loaf in foil wrap.
  • Step #11 Bake for 30 to 35 mins, or until heated through.
  • Step #12 Cut into 1-inch thick slices.

  • Step #14 Cook the Garden Burger, pecans & mushrooms with the onion & garlic.
