Ken's Persian Rice Pilaf Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps butter .
  • 1 1/2 tsps ground turmeric .
  • 1/2 c slivered almonds .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 3 c chicken broth .
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon .
  • 1/2 c golden raisins .
  • 1 1/2 c uncooked basmati rice .
  • 1 small onion, sliced

Directions
  • Step #1 Melt butter in a skillet over medium high heat; add onion & almonds & sauté 7 mins or until onion is tender & almonds are golden.
  • Step #2 Stir in rice & next 4 ingredients; sauté 2 mins.
  • Step #3 Add broth, reduce heat, & bring to a boil; cover, & let simmer 20 to 25 mins or until rice is tender.
