Step #1 Cover up the dried figs with boiling water & set aside until soft, about 2 hrs.
Step #2 Drain the figs, cut into quarters, & place this in a food processor/blender; add in the eggs & process until smooth, about 1 min.
Step #3 Combine the milk & sugar in a saucepan; place over low heat/flame.
Step #4 Stir until the sugar dissolves & the milk comes to a boil.
Step #5 Immediately remove this from the heat.
Step #6 With the food processor/blender running, slowly pour the hot milk into the fig mixture through the feed tube.
Step #7 Process until completely smooth; pour the mixture into a large, clean bowl & allow this to cool slightly.
Step #8 Stir in the cream, vanilla, & salt; cover & put in the fridge until cold or overnight.
Step #9 Stir the chilled custard; freeze in 1 or 2 batches in your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s directions.
Step #10 When finished, the ice cream will be soft but ready to eat; for firmer ice cream, transfer to a freezer safe container & freeze several hrs or overnight.
