Sweet And Spicy Red Pepper Spread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps pomegranate molasses (hamud ar rumman in Arabic) .
  • 2 tbsps olive oil .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1-2 tsp hot pepper flakes (I like this very spicy, but do this to taste.) .
  • 1/3 c fine plain breadcrumbs .
  • 4 large red peppers .
  • 1 c walnuts, finely minced .
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed

Directions
  • Step #1 Roast the red peppers over an open fire or in the oven until the peels are charred.
  • Step #2 Place them in a paper bag for ten mins when they are done & the skins will come off very easily.
  • Step #3 Peel you peppers & rinse off any bits of charred skin.
  • Step #4 Using a sharp knife remove the seeds of the peppers & finely mince them.
  • Step #5 In a large bowl mix peppers & walnuts.
  • Step #6 Mash together with a potato masher until it is somewhat uniform & pasty.
  • Step #7 Add all other ingredients & mix well until a uniform spread is formed.
  • Step #8 Add more oil if necessary.
  • Step #9 Let sit for at least an hr.
  • Step #10 Serve with pita bread, toast, or crackers.
