Meatballs And Gravy Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 (28 oz) cans crushed tomatoes .
  • 1 tbsp oregano .
  • 1 lb ground pork .
  • 1 c romano cheese, freshly grated .
  • 1 c seasoned bread crumbs .
  • 1 medium onion, sliced .
  • 3 beef bones (neckbones) .
  • 1 tsp sugar .
  • 2 (6 oz) cans tomato paste .
  • 2 eggs .
  • 5 garlic cloves, crushed .
  • 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef .
  • 1 tbsp parsley .
  • 3 (28 oz) cans tomato puree .
  • 1 c water .
  • 1 tbsp olive oil .
  • 1 tbsp salt .
  • 1/4 c milk .
  • 1 tbsp basil .
  • 1 tsp basil .
  • 1 tsp Lawry's Spice uped Salt

Directions
  • Step #1 Place first eight ingredients into a large bowl & mix well with hands; shape into 24 balls.
  • Step #2 Brown in pan, making sure to keep a thin layer of water on the bottom of the pan at all times to keep from burning.
  • Step #3 While meatballs are cooking start gravy.
  • Step #4 Brown onion lightly in olive oil In a large-ish pot; add garlic & cook 1-2 mins (don't burn).
  • Step #5 Add tomato paste & water; stir until tomato paste is thinned.
  • Step #6 Add remaining ingredients & mix well.
  • Step #7 Bring to a slow boil & reduce heat.
  • Step #8 When meatballs are done, add to sauce.
  • Step #9 Simmer, over low heat/flame about 2 hrs, covered loosely, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  • Step #10 If sauce is too thick water may be added.
