Grilled Spareribs With Cherry Cola Glaze Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 tbsps soy sauce .
  • 4 (12 oz) cans cherry cola (flat) .
  • 1 tbsp hot pepper sauce .
  • 2/3 c dijon horseradish mustard .
  • 2 tbsps malt vinegar or apple cider vinegar .
  • 2 c cherry jam or cherry preserves .
  • 7-7 1/2 lbs well-trimmed pork spareribs

Directions
  • Step #1 Boil cherry cola in heavy large saucepan over medium-high heat until reduced to 1 1/2 c, about 45 mins.
  • Step #2 Stir in next 5 ingredients.
  • Step #3 Reduce heat to medium & let simmer until mixture is reduced to 2 1/2 c, stirring every once in awhile, about 35 mins.
  • Step #4 Transfer glaze to large bowl.
  • Step #5 Position racks in top & bottom thirds of oven & preheat to 325F degrees F.
  • Step #6 Sprinkle top ribs with salt & pepper.
  • Step #7 Wrap each rib rack tightly in aluminum foil wrap, enclosing completely.
  • Step #8 Divide foil wrap packets between 2 rimmed baking sheets.
  • Step #9 Bake until ribs are very tender, switching positions of baking sheets halfway through baking, about 2 hrs total.
  • Step #10 Cool ribs slightly in foil wrap.
  • Step #11 Pour off any fat from foil wrap packets.
  • Step #12 Prepare barbecue (medium-low heat).
  • Step #13 Cut each rib rack between bones into individual ribs.
  • Step #14 Set aside 1 c glaze.
  • Step #15 Add ribs to bowl with remaining glaze & toss to coat.
  • Step #16 Grill ribs until brown & glazed, turning to prevent burning, about 5 mins total.
  • Step #17 Serve, passing reserved glaze separately.
