Ingredients
3/4 c butter (no substitutes)
SCONES:
1/2 tsp grated orange peel
2/3 c sugar
1/2 c fresh or frozen cranberries
2 1/2 c all-purpose flour
2 tbsps confectioners' sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 c buttermilk
2 1/2 tsps baking powder
1 c sliced fresh or frozen cranberries
1 1/2 c butter (no substitutes), softened
Directions
Step #1 In a mixing bowl, cream butter.
Step #2 Stir in cranberries, confectioners; sugar & orange peel; mix well.
Step #3 Cover & put in the fridge for at least 1 hr.
Step #4 Meanwhile, mix the dry ingredients in a bowl.
Step #5 Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step #6 Add cranberries.
Step #7 Stir in buttermilk just until moistened.
Step #8 Turn onto a lightly floured surface; carefully knead 6-8 times.
Step #9 Divide in half.
Step #10 Pat each into an 8-in.
Step #11 circle.
Step #12 Cut into eight wedges.
Step #13 Place 1 in.
Step #14 apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Step #15 Bake at 400F degrees F for 15-18 mins or until lightly browned.
Step #16 Remove from pans to wire racks.
Step #17 Serve warm with cranberry-orange butter.
