Dark Dreams Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 1/3 c white sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 c sifted all-purpose flour
  • 15 blanched almonds, halved

Directions
  • Step #1 Melt butter in a frying pan & let brown to a dark color.
  • Step #2 Do not burn.
  • Step #3 Remove from heat & pour this into mixing bowl.
  • Step #4 Discard any residue & let cool to about room temp.
  • Step #5 Cream cooled butter with sugar, & stir in the vanilla.
  • Step #6 Resift flour with baking soda & mix into the butter mixture until well mixed.
  • Step #7 Knead dough lightly, cover & put in the fridge for one hr.
  • Step #8 Preheat oven to 300F degrees F (150 degrees C).
  • Step #9 Grease cookie sheets.
  • Step #10 Roll dough into a log 1 inch in diameter.
  • Step #11 Cut 1/2-inch thick slices.
  • Step #12 Shape slices into balls & place on cookie sheets.
  • Step #13 Press half an almond into top of each ball and Bake 25 to 30 mins in the preheated oven, until the edges are golden.
  • Step #14 Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.
