Easy Crunchy Baked Apples Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps mixed spice .
  • 2 medium apples (red are best, medium to large in size) .
  • 2 tbsps honey .
  • 4 dates .
  • 2 tbsps raw sugar .
  • 2 tbsps sultanas

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  • Step #2 Follow the directions of my 'Hot Water Pastry' recipe, incorporating 2 tbsps of sugar into the ingredients.
  • Step #3 Divide the pastry into two balls.
  • Step #4 Roll out each ball into a circular shape, & place on two small or one large lightly oiled baking tray(s).
  • Step #5 Peel the apples & use an apple corer to remove the cores.
  • Step #6 Place each apple in the center of each circle of pastry.
  • Step #7 Push a date down to the bottom of the hole in each apple.
  • Step #8 Put a tbsp of sultanas in each apple hole.
  • Step #9 Put a tbsp of honey in each apple hole.
  • Step #10 Push a date into the top of each apple hole.
  • Step #11 Sprinkle top a tsp of mixed spice over each apple, followed by a tbsp of raw sugar each.
  • Step #12 Pull the pastry over the sides of each apple, patting the pastry together until the entire apple is covered, completely sealed with no gaps.
  • Step #13 Bake in your 180C oven for 35-45 mins, or until pastry is golden brown, & when a skewer penetrates into the apple without resistance.
  • Step #14 Serve as soon as possible with vanilla ice cream, double cream, or sour cream.
