Ingredients
1 tbsp hot chili sauce (Sriracha) .
1 1/2 tbsps brown sugar .
1/2 tsp allspice .
1 tbsp garam masala, spice mix .
Tomato Dipping Sauce .
1 (17 1/3 oz) box puff pastry sheets, frozen .
1/3 c white onions, minced .
1/2 tsp sesame oil .
1/2 tsp black pepper .
1/2-1 tsp allspice .
1/2 tsp chili powder .
1/2 c milk .
Empanadas .
1 tsp cinnamon .
8 oz tomato sauce (Trader Joe's is really good!) .
1/2-1 tsp cinnamon .
1-2 tbsp brown sugar .
1 tbsp tomato paste .
1/2 lb ground beef .
1 russet potato, peeled & sliced .
1/2 tbsp olive oil .
1 tsp chili powder .
1/2 tbsp red wine vinegar .
1/2 tsp salt .
6 oz cream cheese .
1/4 tsp black pepper
Directions
Step #1 For the sauce: Combine all ingredients & whisk till smooth.
Step #2 For the empanadas:.
Step #3 Take the pastry sheets out of the freezer 40 mins before your empanadas will be ready to be filled.
Step #4 Preheat the oven to 400F degrees.
Step #5 Peel the potatoes & dice them fairly small.
Step #6 Cover up them with water & let simmer for 10-15 mins, or till tender.
Step #7 Meanwhile, all the sugar & spices, mince the onion & place this In a large-ish bowl with the beef, & the milk.
Step #8 Knead with your hands until the mixture is very soft.
Step #9 Cook the meat mixture in a skillet over med-heat/flame until the beef is browned.
Step #10 Drain the potatoes & mix them in with the meat.
Step #11 Drain any excess fat.
Step #12 (The potatoes should soak most of it up).
Step #13 Cut the pastry into 24 equal rectangles & divide the mixture between them.
Step #14 Divide the cream cheese into 24 portions as well & squish it on top of the meat so it evenly covers.
Step #15 Fold the pastry over & seal the edges by folding or pinching.
Step #16 Place on baking sheet & bake for 13-15 mins, or until puffy & golden brown.
