Ingredients
1/2 head cabbage, coarsely shredded with a knife. Using a Kraut cutter is OK, but the regular grater cuts too finely .
1 large onion, sliced .
1 lb kielbasa, cut up into bite-size pieces (pre-boil & cool if you find it too salty straight from the package) .
1-2 carrot, sliced (optional) .
4 c potatoes, sliced
Directions
Step #1 Lightly grease big, iron skillet (I like to use my chicken fryer), with canola oil.
Step #2 Brown the Kielbasa.
Step #3 Take it out & put it aside.
Step #4 Drain excess grease.
Step #5 Fry potatoes & carrots, stirring often, until half-cooked.
Step #6 Add oinions & keep frying, stirring frequently.
Step #7 When the onions are half-cooked add the cabbage & continue until everything is completely cooked.
Step #8 Return Kielbasa to the pan, mix well, & serve once its reheated.
Step #9 This dish travels well & reheats well.
