Creamed Onions And Sage Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 tbsps sliced fresh parsley
  • 2 tsps dried sage
  • 2 c half-and-half cream
  • 2 tbsps all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsps lemon zest
  • 1 dash paprika
  • 4 tbsps butter
  • 2 tsps lemon juice
  • 12 fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 24 small onions
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions
  • Step #1 Peel onions a trim slightly at the top & bottom.
  • Step #2 Boil the onions carefully in salted water until tender (about 30 mins).
  • Step #3 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #4 Butter one shallow baking dish.
  • Step #5 Saute the sliced mushrooms in the butter or margarine.
  • Step #6 Stir in the flour.
  • Step #7 Stir in the half & half or milk, sage, salt, 1/2 of the lemon peel & all of the lemon juice.
  • Step #8 Cook, stirring over med-heat/flame until sauce thickens.
  • Step #9 Place the cooked onions in the prepared baking dish & pour the mushroom sauce over them.
  • Step #10 Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 20 mins.
  • Step #11 Sprinkle top the top this with the sliced parsley, remaining lemon peel & paprika to taste.
