Chocolate Caramel Sugar Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c sugar .
  • 1/4 c finely sliced nuts (optional) .
  • 2 tbsps milk .
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 2 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1 egg .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • Caramel Filling .
  • 1 tsp baking soda .
  • 3 bakers unsweetened chocolate squares .
  • 1 (14 oz) package Kraft caramels .
  • 1 c margarine or butter

Directions
  • Step #1 Microwave chocolate & margarine in large microwaveable bowl on high 2 mins or until margarine is melted.
  • Step #2 Stir until chocolate is completely melted.
  • Step #3 Stir 1 c sugar into melted chocolate mixture until well mixed.
  • Step #4 Stir in egg & vanilla until completely mixed.
  • Step #5 Mix in flour, baking soda, & salt.
  • Step #6 Refrigerate 30 mins.
  • Step #7 Heat oven to 375°.
  • Step #8 Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in finely sliced nuts.
  • Step #9 Place on ungreased cookie sheets, & make an indentation in each ball.
  • Step #10 Bake for 8-10 mins or until set.
  • Step #11 Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.
  • Step #12 Microwave caramels & milk in microwaveable bowl on high 3 mins or until melted, stirring after 2 mins.
  • Step #13 Fill centers of cookies with caramel mixture.
  • Step #14 Place 1 square Bakers semi-sweet chocolate in a zipper-style sandwich bag.
  • Step #15 Close bag tightly.
  • Step #16 Microwave on high about 1 min or until chocolate is melted.
  • Step #17 Fold own top of bag tightly & snip a tiny peice off 1 corner (about 1/8 inch).
  • Step #18 Holding top of bag tightly, drizzle chocolate through opening over cookies.
