David's Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract .
  • 2 1/2 tsps peppermint extract .
  • 1 quart heavy whipping cream .
  • 7 c whole milk .
  • 2 1/3 c sugar .
  • 1 vanilla bean .
  • 6 (1 1/2 oz) Hershey Bars (sliced into small pieces) .
  • 1/3 oz unflavored gelatin .
  • 15 drops green food coloring

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine cream, gelatin, sugar, milk, & vanilla bean In a large-ish sauce pan.
  • Step #2 Heat mixture until sugar & gelatin are dissolved.
  • Step #3 Add vanilla, peppermint extract, & food coloring.
  • Step #4 Chill mixture 24 hrs, or more.
  • Step #5 Remove vanilla bean.
  • Step #6 Pour mixture into a 1 gallon size ice cream maker.
  • Step #7 Freeze ice cream until almost frozen.
  • Step #8 Add sliced up Hershey bars.
  • Step #9 Continue freezing.
