Christmas Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 lb sliced candied citron
  • 2 tsps anise oil
  • 2 tsps ground cloves
  • 2 tsps ground allspice
  • 20 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 lb sliced nuts
  • 6 c white sugar
  • 4 c molasses
  • 1 lb raisins
  • 2 c sour milk
  • 2 tsps ground cinnamon
  • 1 lb dried currants
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp baking soda
  • 2 tsps ground nutmeg
  • 1 c butter
  • 4 eggs

Directions
  • Step #1 Grind the nuts, raisins, currants & citron.
  • Step #2 Boil the molasses & the sugar.
  • Step #3 Let cool then add the ground mixture, nutmeg, salt, anise oil, cinnamon, cloves, the eggs, sour milk & baking soda.
  • Step #4 Add enough flour to stiffen dough.
  • Step #5 Refrigerate dough for several days.
  • Step #6 When ready to bake preheat your trusty oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #7 Dough may be rolled out to 1/4 inch thick & cut with cookie cutters or you can shape dough into logs & slice.
  • Step #8 Place cookies on greased cookie sheets & bake for 10 to 12 mins.
